Weekend Report

Some of you might know that we (the band Foryoumydear) were invited to a meeting of the Jesus Freaks Sachsen.

In spite of the long journey we enjoyed a blessed evening. With two bands playing we had a mainly Christian audience with a few Non-Christians. We simply talked about how important it is for us to be open and speak about Jesus. Afterwards we had several good conversations and were able to relax during a final worship session.

Now you know a bit about our weekend. If you want to know more about us feel free to talk to us. God bless your week!

Innovation? Perfection?

Recently I noticed the advertisement of a large computer company:

Both might be correct in terms of technology, but our life is different.

Ecclesiastes 1:9 (English Standard Version):

What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun.”

There is nothing new, not even an unexciting news. All things already happened just as the current fashion trend was trendy a few years ago. And we probably realised by now that even perfection leaves much to be desired. If we want to be perfect we are doomed to fail. There will always be some detail lacking. Some flaw remains – maybe pride of our supposed perfection. I am glad that God sees things differently.

Hebrews 10:14 (English Standard Version):

For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.”

In Jesus we have been made perfect. We are not perfect by ourselves, but we have been made perfect. What a liberating message!

Brand new

Here it is, the brand new Koinonia blog! Therefore I am going to write something brand new…

What? What did you say, Solomon? “There is no new thing under the sun” (Ecclesiastes 1:9). And now? Will everything stay the way it was? Is there no chance for a new beginning?

Here we stand in front of a grave: a stone of several tons blocks the tomb.

Crucified – dead – buried

That was the end. There is nothing new under the sun unless…

Unless the Spirit of the living and life giving God does a miracle. The miracle of resurrection! And now it is not longerThere is nothing newbutTherefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

The Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead wants to create new things in our lives today (and every new today!). He wants to create something that remains new forever and never becomes outdated. He does it through the old yet always new word, His Word, the Bible. If we give room to the Spirit of God He will keep making all things new.

Even when this blog is not that brand new anymore…

Quiet Weekend

Well, the blog is on! There is life again on our church website. And there is always a lot to tell! The teens have just realised what it means to reach out to God and to worship Him. Our recent worship nights were very cool. If you’ve got some spare minutes, you might just remember the teens and pray for them. Highly motivated we are getting started with the plans for our winter retreat and are going to visit a new facility for retreats. A group of teens will head off to Dohnsen to spend time with God the first weekend of November. Quiet time without cell phones, computers or anything like that. Just like Jesus who used to get on a mountain to have some time with God. I am eagerly looking forward to this trip! Looking forward to a lot more blogs!

A blog?

This is the blog of our church. From time to time, short devotions or thoughts on a specific topic will be posted here.
